Vlog - Car Accidets Suck or RIP My Buick Regal

This is really not the return to this blog that I had planned.  I had some poems I was considering posting, and a few new knots I've been doodling.  But I never got around to that, and now I've got something much more unpleasant to deal with:

I think I forgot to mention in the vid, I went to North Memorial Hospital.  The ambulance offered to take me wherever I wanted, and I chose North Memorial because it's close to home, less than a mile actually, and I've also been seen there before.  Three times actually, all for my asthma.  And as long and boring as this visit was, it was cake compared to those trips.  No unconsciousness, no overnight in the ICU, no freaking commode next to the bed since there's too many wires & crap hooked up to go to the bathroom like a normal person.

Another thing is that this was one rare instance where I really wished that I had a cell phone.  In my normal day-to-day life, I could care less if I have a cell.  Extra hassle & extra expense.  But in this case I couldn't call anyone until I got to the public phone at the hospital.  I guess I could have asked someone, but my point is, my vague consideration to buy a cell phone for Christmas has become a more firm intention.  But that's a whole other hassle of choosing a phone & a carrier & a plan & etc and since I have a time limit on the rental, a new car is going to have to take priority.

I'll try not to go AWOL on this blog for such a long period again - although I hope things don't stay quite so interesting as this.

Thanks for reading.

  3. I'm glad you're ok!

My two cents about cell phones: If you only ever plan on using it during emergencies, look into Tracfone. It's like a lot of other plans where you get a free phone when you first sign up, but you choose a lump sum of minutes and they basically never expire (like, for years and years). You just fill up whenever you need them. You can also text from them by just using some of your minutes.

Again, I'm glad you're okay, but sorry to hear you have to deal with all this stuff around the holidays. Car accidents are hard enough to handle when you have nothing going on!

  4. really glad you're ok..and not seriously injured! also, i'd say definitely get a cell phone..there are good plans that u can get if you would only use it minimally..it wouldn't be a huge cost and it's a big help in situations like this..I'm actually quite surprised you don't have one. I had a question, did the driver who hit you apologize or have any excuse why they were going so fast or didn't even attempt to brake? I really hope you'll get a fair amount of money for your car and find something else. I'm kinda in the same boat..looking for a good used car..hard to trust people.

  5. So glad you are okay.

I feel your pain. The day after we got back from Thanksgiving weekend, someone ran a red light and totaled our truck. I wish people would think before speeding through town, driving like a maniac (@ 50 through a residential area!!!).

I use Platinumtel for a cell phone provider. Tracfone is really good too, according to my BFF. I don't use a phone nearly enough to justify paying 100 a month, when I could be using that to buy more nail polish ;D

  6. Just came over here after seeingyou post about it on Simple Pleasures! I'm glad you are okay and I was also going to recoommend Tracfone. My boyfriend has one and it's really inexpensive. If you already don't use one often and don't need a data plan, I'd say it's the way to go. No monthly bill to pay and if you don't have money for a new card one month it's no biggie, you can just reactivate your phone when you get one and there isn't an extra charge. Major companies are really only good for people who want all that data use and stuff.

  7. I'm soooo glad you are alright. When I saw the pic of your car my heart sank. I can see why you are thinking of getting a cell for emergencies. Your one of the only Bloggers with long claws like mine. *Hugs*

  8. I second the Tracfone recommendation. I got one for my daughter; I pay less than $20/month when you average it out.

  9. I am also so glad you are ok. I'm sorry you have to go through all of this extra hassle this time of year (or ANY time of year).

I love your simple pleasures blog and tried water marbling for the first time this week because of your tutorials. There is definitely a learning curve, but it is such a fun look. Thank you for taking the time to share your talent!

I would also like to jump on the pre-paid phone bandwagon. I have mine through Verizon, but there are lots of companies that do it. I pay $100 per year instead of $80-100 per month. I have an iPod touch so I can still play with all of the apps and text with friends and family as much as they want.
